Assistant Youth and Sports Minister Nya D. Twayen, Jr. on Wednesday, July 22, 2009, disclosed that his Ministry will soon launch a US$10,000 cadet program at various universities. Speaking at a workshop marking the end of a week-long African Youth Charter (AYC) sensitization campaign, which brought together representatives of various political parties, Asst. Min. Twayen, Jr. said that in conjunction with the currently existing youth empowerment programs such as the vocational job training and voluntary community services there will be a third program intended for students in various universities.

Twayen also announced the launch of the Youth Charter Awareness Campaign. He reminded Liberian youth that they are the leaders of today preparing for the future. He wants the youth to take a positive stand in decision-making and not to allow anyone to disenfranchise them because of age. Twayen spoke recently in New Kru Town where he had gone to launch a public awareness campaign  about the African Youth Charter.
