Police sources in Monrovia say it has made some arrests in the murder of the late Keith Jubah. Immediately after the incidence police arrested Abel Bondo and James Linka.
The gruesome murder of Jubah, Chairman of the Public Procurement and Concession Commission (PPCC) of Liberia, took place recently on a Sunday evening along the Kakata-Monrovia Highway by unknown armed men who burned his body and set his vehicle ablaze.
The PPCC was created by an act of the National Transitional Legislative Assembly on September 8, 2005. The Commission is charged with the responsibility to regulate and monitor compliance with the Public Procurement and Concessions Act of Liberia with the object of ensuring the economic and efficient use of public funds in public procurement. It was also established to ensure that public procurement and concession processes are conducted in a fair, transparent and non discriminatory manner.
According to an eye witness account, Keith Jubah was murdered as he disembarked from his vehicle and approached his house after which his attackers appeared from a nearby rubber bush and shot him twice in the chest. As Jubah fell to the ground, the eyewitness disclosed that the attackers poured gasoline on his body and set his body on fire. Jubah had just arrived home around 9pm local time Sunday.
