The Barrack Young Controller (BYC) has emerged as champions of the Liberia Football Association (LFA) Knockout competition.
The youthful Liberian top flight club achieved the feat Sunday, November 1, 2009 at the Antoinette Tubman Stadium (ATS) in Monrovia with a 1-0 win over the LPRC Oilers.
Young and promising Samuel G. Thompson, who is also a linchpin in the youthful club’s attack, was the man of the day when he swayed his body and used much skills, speed and pace to rattle the net in the 28th minute of the duel.
The big win will see BYC represent Liberia in the 2010 edition of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) cup, while Mighty Barrolle, Liberia ’s best football club of the moment will represent the country in the CAF champions League.
BYC challenged for all major competitions in the LFA 2009 national league finishing 3rd of the 18 teams in the LFA premier league table.
The big match also saw the Chief patron of sports, President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, and her son, Robert Sirleaf, in attendance.
Information gathered has also indicated that the son of the president, Robert, and BYC president, Mr. Sekou Konneh, are good friends.
