The National Election Commission has organized a two day boundary deliniation meeting with local county authorities in rural Montserrado County .
The consultant on delineation at the NEC, Archie Delaney, said the meeting is intended to identify the county boundary with other counties and enable local county authorities to know their various localities. Mr. Delaney said there have been several boundary disputes among citizens over the years due to what he called the lack of proper documentation and the government’a alleged failure to address the situation. He disclosed that NEC through its Inter- Agency Taskforce on Delineation will in few days target urban Montserrado, including the Paynesville community, Somalia Drive and central Monrovia .
Montserrado County Superintendent Nyenekon Barcon told this reporter that her office will closely monitor the ongoing exercise. Superintendent Barcon said boundary crisises among citizens has been a major issue in Liberia and urgent attention from the government is needed. The meeting brought together representatives from rural Montserrado including Township Commissioners, town chiefs, city mayors, amongst others.
